chelsea
i suspect he/she is a troll, they do it just to get a rise out of people, just ignore them. There are lots of trolls on RC, unfortunately. They get fed up and move on eventually, thank goodness! its weird isnt it - we dont get any on here! (thank goodness). Mrs Frugal
Oh help . I've just posted on the RC forum . I don't know what came over me but that R***** person got my goat . Do you think s/he can find out where I live . You can hide behind me, ANH . I've got my cattle prod primed for trouble makers .
Egluntyne
There is definitely a different level of tolerance by the mods on that forum. Remarks are passed there that wouldn't be accepted on here. Far too personal and judgemental....based on jealousy and false assumptions ....from the tone of some of the posts. I was trying my darndest (sp?) to be tactful and polite then you come along with all guns blazing (wish I'd had the nerve ). Good on you . Mrs Frugal
I should have stayed out of it but I'm just so fed up that Eglu owners would be hung from the rafters for being so insulting about wooden arks - not that we would anyway! Each to their own so long as they are happy. "Healthy debate" is encouraged on RC which makes moderating topics really difficult.
Olly
I laughed at the 'WAG' comment because here where I live there are some genuine WAGs, and a lot of wannabe WAGs too - fake tans, blonde hair extensions and bling are often to be seen, and that's just in Waitrose! I can't imagine Coleen or Cheryl or any of the others risking their nails by opening an egg-port, can you? Although I guess a Juicy Couture tracksuit would be quite cosy for nipping up the garden to open the Eglu door on a cold morning.

Each to their own so long as they are happy. "Healthy debate" is encouraged on RC which makes moderating topics really difficult. Clearly some of the RC people don't know the difference between healthy debate and rudeness. What business is it of any of them how other people chose to spend their money. I find the tone of the forum quite out of keeping with the RC ethos. All this business about Eglu's being a fashion statement is a load of baloney too. I can't think of a single Omleteer who would have made that their reason for choosing an Eglu. We are all deeper and more thoughtful and intelligent than that. There were several other factors which prompted most of us to buy them, ease of cleaning for one. The fact that you can have a pink one is just the icing on the cake. If I could remember my password...I'd say all this there.
lisa33
I have just had my first look at this thread and I found it quite awful. I have to admit the omlet forum is the first and only forum I've been on. I'm glad I found this one first as I think if I'd found the RC one first I would have never gone on a Forum again. Well done Kate for putting your comments on there.
Ain't Nobody Here
I've done it again. ~ see my rant here ~ Omlet is also the first forum I've dared to post on (although try and stop me now ) but the RC forum has brought me out from behind my sofa
Mrs Frugal
I've not seen that yet. It's hell in the RC chat section with a host of trolls doing their best to have a moderator witch hunt . It's not nice at all.
Guest
My 2 pennorth has been added. Hmmm let me think about my WAG tendancies. OK there's the expensive cruises The acrylic nails Acrylic toenails Expensive handbags Shopping in Waitrose Designer Chicken house Now lets take a closer look at that list. I've never seen a WAG on a cruise - on the "Mary" last year my table companions included 2 Harvard grads, a Canon from Long Island, an architect, a retired (female!) bank director, a barrister and myself as a teacher. My nails are horrid, broken and dirty from gardening and last summer wrecked from building a chicken run. So I sometimes have acrylics when I want to look a little more glamourous - like when I'm on the cruises! My toenails split and break too and I spend the entire summer living in Birkenstocks so I had acrylics put on OK I have a weakness for those little doggies - but I keep away from the REALLY expensive handbags (although when I was in Saks this Chanel bag was just $2500!!!! I bought a fake bag in Canal Street instead) I like to shop in Waitrose, the quality of both the food and the service is excellent. Forgive me if I have high standards (bizarrely I went in the Somerfields opposite today where I NEVER venture and the woman on the till recognised me from our SCHOOLDAYS eeeeek!!!) Ah yes my lovely Eglu - the envy of everyone in the neighborhood. Oh thats right I only have 2 sets of neighbors and I've barely even said "Hello" to the ones on the right who live in the farmhouse. My friends just think I'm nuts to keep chickens. oooooh I must be a WAG!!!
Guest
Just had a good laugh at the expense of that last "expert" opinion. CHRISTIAN - Don't you have a mini??? Apparantly all of us Eglu keepers are described as below. "To me, the kind of person who would own an eglu might also own designer label clothing, bags and sunglasses, a brand new mini, wide screen TV which takes up half the living room" OK I don't have any designer clothing but I do have loads of ~Radley bags, a pair of Chanel sunglasses and a wide screen TV - mind you it doesn't take up half the living room. Trouble is I can't abide mini's!

Tessa the Duchess
Apparantly all of us Eglu keepers are described as below. "To me, the kind of person who would own an eglu might also own designer label clothing, bags and sunglasses, a brand new mini, wide screen TV which takes up half the living room" Good grief I actually find this quite offensive As far as I am concerned it is sooooooo far from the truth that it is laughable. I have a 14' telly, drive a 15yr old VW van, own no designer clothes or accessories and would seriously like to give the idiot who posted that a good slap Tessa
Couperwife
who are these people???? I wouldnt dream of having a go at someone cos they had a certain car, and I wouldn't expect them to have a go at my honda. why all the fuss about a chicken house??? and, just a question, surely an "eco friendly" wooden chicken house isnt eco friendly, once someone has covered it in rather nasty gloss paint (however they chose to spell it) Gloss isnt eco friendly - at all ok, ill shut up. cathy x
Guest
I had a good laugh at them as follows. "ROFL! I'm not going to a poultry show - I keep my chickens as pets and "shows" don't excite me. I think I'll move my Eglu to the grass verge outside my house where people can see it - it doesn't seem to be impressing many people hidden away in my back garden. Sorry but glossing a chicken house would ruin my nails and I might get paint flecks on my designer gear. I'm looking at Mini's online as I type - does it need to be a tarty new German one or can I get a classic Mini Cooper and restore it? Oh, I find having my Eglu on a litle platform with a home made ladder going down saves having to bend too much or kneel on the ground to clean it out. All that kneeling in the dirt was soo bad for my Juicy Couture tracky bottoms. " I had to research the last bit as I know NOTHING about WAG's and very ltittle about fashionable designer gear! Sheilaz
Mod editing alert! A great remark to end on..... I came to read this topic & saw the last couple of posts referred to the RC poster. It always ends in tears, we've had this happen before, so I deleted the posts & pm'd to explain. Then I realised that the discussion of said woman went back a further FIVE pages! Well, I'm not sending individual pm's if you don't mind! PM me if you have any questions though. Could we all be careful not to let the RC storm in a teacup descend into something unkind here. Now, shall I have a cup of tea or go to bed? Egluntyne
Someone (situated in East London) who is wanting to keep chickens and is a prospective Eglu owner has posted a superb response to the rantings. Lesley
I told you it would all end in tears! We've been there so many times Best to stay on here and leave them all to it........... ....and I also have a brand new Mini They must lead really unhappy lives to take such pleasure in tearing us to shreds - it really isn't worth the aggravation. As Snowy said - rise above it - we're all better than that.......... hope you've had a good night Sheila!
