AJuff
How much longer will I have to wait for an egg? I had heard that green/blue egg layers take longer to come into lay but Hilda is 34 weeks old and not a sign of a squat, her face is still very pale and her comb is just beginning to grow. A late developer?
feemcg
A bit more daylight now the days are getting a bit longer and she should be laying for you in February - hopefully (I have a Speckled Sussex that I hatched last February who's not laying yet...freeloader ). Ain't Nobody Here
Molly, my Pied Suffolk, is 37 weeks and isn't laying (apart from the 10 in September that I always seem to be mentioning ). She doesn't run away as much as she used to - wouldn't say she's crouching but she's definitely less skittish. I'm hopeful . Can't believe we're still waiting for your Columbine to lay - I thought we would both be in the green egg club by now .

ubereglu
It's a surprise that her comb and things haven't developed much yet, as Molly, who's a cream legbar has a lovely comb, it's not quite fully grown yet, but she is starting to get a red face and has lovely earlobes and wattles. Hope she starts laying soon and the same with my Molly!
iChicken
We got our 1st egg today! http://club.omlet.co.uk/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=21582 Think our chickens are around 26 weeks, we were told they were about 20 weeks (though the lady didn't seem sure), we've had 6 weeks of waiting and this last week have stopped looking every day. Cleaned the Eglu yesterday pm and forgot to put straw in the nesting box, went and put straw in after work today and found an egg! YIPPEE!!! Ain't Nobody Here
Congratulations . And what a cute picture . Looks like a good size egg - have you weighed it?
iChicken
We don't have any kitchen scales
Snowy
You must get some kitchen scales! Every egg needs to be weighed and recorded so you know who has laid the biggest and you can monitor their progress!
iChicken
Just been talking with the other half about buying some. Seemed a good idea until she mentioned all the things i could start baking if we had scales.... and I thought a woman's place was in the kitchen.... btw interesting photo album Snowy Howells
Ain't Nobody Here
You have to weigh your eggs . It's surprising how the weights vary and you have to have a leader board . I got this off Ebay for about a tenner. Bought it for the eggs but am using it for cooking now too. I also enter all the weights into a spreadsheet created by a forum member (bit mad I know, but I know I'm not the only one ): http://www.2-source.com/chickens/eggtallyv1.xls

AJuff
Forgive for being a bit dim but what is spammed?
Ain't Nobody Here
Kate explains it here (I wasn't sure either ). I think it's basically undesirable lowlifes (lives?) putting stuff into places they shouldn't. http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18081
Snowy
Someone had created new albums within my album with references to certain pharmaceutical products! I've twiddled things a bit now so hopefully they can't get in anymore
