Jules.
It was the first meeting of the year of our ladies meeting at church today, & we had a time of open fellowship where we can bring along a gift we have received for Christmas & show it to each other, and just say a few words about it. I took this with me it's the chicken bag my boys bought me I then read out this verse form the Bible, Matthew chapter 23 verse 37 "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing..... and I told the ladies about how wondefully designed chickens are, with their ( & I quote) "knicker feathers!" and their wings which can stretch out to protect their chicks. I also took along a photo of my girls & their eglu which I passed around. I have given eggs to a few of the ladies there- the last lot went to Marion who was 80 last week- she made a quiche with them

ubereglu
Very good Jules, your boys have good taste as I was bought the same bag by my sister for my birthday! If it had been me I would have gone with this: It was a secret santa pressie from the Creative Living forum!
Jules.
Have you persuaded any of them to buy an Eglu? Not yet! I have heard them tell me that their grandparents used to keep chickens. One lady brought a present that one of her children bought her, & it was a replica of things that people had in the war - little cards that had tips on . One was about how to look after blackout blinds, another had the "careless talk costs lives" motto on it. I was waiting for her to bring out your "feed you s"Ooops, word censored!"s to the hens" poster, but she didn't have that one!
