henny penny
What do people put in their dust boxes. I've bought a cat litter tray but not sure what to put in it?
Egluntyne
Sand (silver play sand...not builders), earth, compost, cold ashes from the fire. They will love any of these, or any combination of them
chrisnrob
Ooooh! We bought a shallow clay pot for ours to use as a dustbath last weekend and have put some compost into it. I didn't realise you could use ash - we have a bucket full of the stuff Rob
Ain't Nobody Here
I started out with a cat litter tray (with sand & compost) in the run but I never really saw them use it, it took up so much room and ended up with the same contents as the run so I took it out. They now dustbathe wherever they fancy in the run (which is covered so is dry).
CatsCube
I use a washing up bowl as anything to shallow and they very quickly throw the contence out. I stick play sand, compost and some mite powder in, that way they can dose themselves.
chickenlass
I've got some soil from a mole hill in a cat litter try mixed with ash from the fire . I've seen them using it so it must have the seal of approval
Christian
I have a cat litter tray with a lip around the top. I fill it with ash from the fire and a sprinkling of red mite powder.
