Edgcumbechicks
What do you all give your girlies for treats? Mine love sweetcorn, lettuce and cucumber. They also love bread, but someone told me that it wasn't good to give them too much bread, is this right?
red
As you can see from my signature I haven't got my chickens yet so I can only dream of feeding them treats!! Still I'm sure everyone will fill you in their girls' favourite - sweetcorn definitely seems popular ... but then so do custard creams!! ... some people have said theirs like cake crumbs but if we ever have the luxury of a cake in the house there are never any crumbs left!! Lesley
You can give them bread but it should be soaked in milk or water. We give ours the crusts off the home-made wholemeal and sometimes I put marmite on it before I soak it. When it is soggy, I mash it up so it is like porridge. Mrs Frugal
Hi Edgecumbechicks, I made a sticky which has grouped all the topics members have posted about food and drinks together. If you clickhere you'll find all the weird and wonderful things our lovely feathery girls get as treats! Hope your chickens have fun experimenting gastronomically ! Guest
Marmite! I've never tried them with that. Thanks for telling me about the soaking in milk or water, I'll do that next time. I've tried them with grapes now as I remember reading on here that somebody's girlies were particularly fond of them, mine do to. I'll have to try some more on the list.
