rachel19
Me and six friends booked a week snowboarding holiday to pamporovo in bulgaria a couple of days ago for 15th March and i just wondered if any of you guys had been there before or knew anyone that had? It was increadibly good value at under £500 for everything including board hire, lift pass, lessons, insurance half board in a 4* hotel, flights and transfers........im just wondering if its too good to be true? Karen & co.
We went to Borovetts a number of years ago, I wasn't allowed to ski by OH as I was pregnant his logic being that I couldn't speak Bulgarian if there was a problem, so I trolled around looking like a weeble instead All the skiers in the party had a great time, the only thing I found was the food was the same thing every night and they didn't catervery well for me as a veggie Might be better now though Karen x
Chicken Licken
I ski'd in borovets a number of years agao. When we went there there wasn't much snow (this winter there is loads). Very cheap to eat and go out, but a little bit limited in terms of menu etc. Definitely worth a go for a cheap and cheerful holiday.
riane
My Mum and Dad took all the grandkids (8 in total) last year. The age range was 60 to 5years and ski ability was beginner to black runs. All had a wonderful time and had good instructors. Hope you have a fab time
Lesley
We went to Borovetts a number of years ago, I wasn't allowed to ski by OH as I was pregnant his logic being that I couldn't speak Bulgarian if there was a problem, so I trolled around looking like a weeble instead All the skiers in the party had a great time, the only thing I found was the food was the same thing every night and they didn't catervery well for me as a veggie Might be better now though Karen x Don't tell me........... you got sick of fried cheese?... big slabs of it?..... I ate rather a lot of fried cheese and stuffed peppers when we went. ..... and your OH was quite right..... Carl was very ill on our last night and as we were staying in a Bulgarian home, I had to go and knock them up out of bed at 2am. He called an ambulance and the only phrase I had in the phrase book was "I am ill"..... pointing at Carl I didn't know how to change it to say "He is ill" The rest of the night is a long story...... and was 14 years ago, I'm sure things have changed a lot since then. We now won't go anywhere if we don't know enough of the language to be ill! We didn't go skiing but the prices were really cheap - so probably not too good to be true - just have a great time We were in Nessebur btw and my daughter and SIL were in neighbouring Sunny Beach. Cate in NZ
I've never been, but some goof friends of ours are off to Borovets for the 3rd time this half term. They go as a big group of several families, skiing ability within the group ranges from pretty expert down to complete beginner, and I think that the more expert skiers did find their choice of runs a little limited after the first few days, but they're all families and go for the fun of having a good, affordable time together rather than top notch skiing. J did say that they tend to self cater as much as possible and fill their suitcases up with packet soup and tins of baked beans.............I thought that was to keep all the children happy, but maybe it's a reflection oo their opinions of the food
rachel19
Excellent, thanks guys - sounds as though we should have a good time then! Although we are half board, it was actually about £50 cheaper than the B&B option in another similar hotel so we'll prob go out a couple of nights to try and get some authentic bulgarian cuisine rather than being british and eating chips for a week Am getting v excited now as went and got all my snow gear today as it's all in the sale now
