Eyren
It was with some trepidation that I went up to my allotment today, after a long hiatus (Christmas/bad back/holiday), having heard everyone's tales of woe about caterpillars and pigeons... I had sown some red cabbage, romanesco cauli, purple sprouting broccoli and kale last summer, but few survived the awful weather. I decided to plant out a few of the not-too-awful ones anyway, but thought they were all broccoli and kale. Imagine my surprise when I found this: It's a bit loose compared to a supermarket romanesco, but considering it's supposed to grow in the summer for an October harvest, I was pretty pleased with the result. Of course, I haven't tasted it yet!

chickencam
Well done I've had a couple of goes at these without any success, but we do have a club root problem. I did however have a couple of successful normal cauliflowers last summer of which I was very proud
ubereglu
Wow, that's impressive! My cauliflowers are flowering...don't think they're meant to do that!
Eyren
We had the cute little florets in a risotto last night, rather like you'd use asparagus tips - very nice! If anyone fancies growing it, it's called "Ottobrino" and it's available from the Real Seed Catalogue (www.realseeds.co.uk).
