Mrs Frugal
You won't believe how nervous I was having to phone Lesley up!! I got to speak to the answer phone then Lesley rang me back !!! To all those out there - Lesley's perfectly human! Major problems today with virus software we thought was working but wasn't so we've had lots of mess to sort out but I'm back now - I hope ! Nice to have a natter though Lesley - hope your phone bill's not too high as a result !
Lesley
Ha!Ha! - I had to pluck up the courage to phone you back - not as scary as I thought
SarahJo
Why should the Chatty Chickens be afraid to speak to each other on the phone ..... not like you have absolutely nothing in common . Mind you I wonder who spoke the most words .. could either of you get a word in edgeways . Only kidding.
Lesley
We just held parallel conversations
Sheilaz
Hi Lesley & Kate, Glad you marked this historic occasion with a topic! It made me realize that I feel as if I know what everyone sounds like. Just from the phrases and expressions used, I imagine I could guess the general pitch & tone of voice. But, of course, this can be wildly innaccurate (have you read a Julie Birchill and then heard her speak....poles apart). So, did the voices seem familiar, or was it a surprize? Or am I putting you on the spot! Thinking about it, I would be really nervous to make that first call...hadn't thought of it before. So, congratulations on reaching this milestone! Hope the computer is feeling better Kate. I've been offline due to sis visiting today etc etc....much more fun than a virus.
Mrs Frugal
Hi Sheila, The computer is still poorly but we're working on it. I've picked up something and we need to find it - I'm getting pop up ads on this forum and that's not right! Something's amiss somewhere! Lesley sounded like I thought she might do! Funny to actually talk to each other instead of waiting for e-mail or PM replies to come in! We'll meet up for real one day and that will be fun! Sheilaz
Kate, Hope your computer gets well soon! Ours was very ill a few months ago, kept having really disgusting pop ups and computer man had to come and completely clean it & reinstall. It was really diseased! Hope yours isn't that bad. Be great if you and Lesley do meet up, I'm sure you will sometime. Hopefully, a few of us on the forum might do at some stage, wouldn't it be fun! Mrs Frugal
Pop ups? Don't remind me! I think I've got it sussed at the moment - haven't had any today so I must have deleted the right things from the computer innards!! You learn a new skill every day, don't you ! We're hoping for a get together sometime soon because Lesley fancies visiting Rutland Water which is just up the road from me. Carl's happy because he's found out that Stamford has a great little micro brewery too . We'll let you know how it goes . And yes, it would be fun if more of us could meet up sometime - we could talk chickens till the cows come home !
Lesley
Hi Sheila - Kate sounded just as I thought she would which is years younger than she makes herself sound sometimes! The message on the phone completely threw me as I'd just spoken to our neighbour opposite who is called Kate and she didn't say anything about her computer Kate's message referred to a mutual 'acquaintance' on another forum called Sarah and our other neighbour who doesn't speak to us is called Sarah. I thought I'd gone completely mad
Sheilaz
I thought I'd gone completely mad [/quote Surely not! My big bro always just says "its me" when he phones...ok, he's my bro. but he could give me a clue (esp. as his calls are v.rare).
Mrs Frugal
My friend phones me and puts on a different voice and announces she's from Market Research and could I spare a moment to fill in a questionnaire over the phone. She gets me every time, damn! The other wheeze is to ask if Mrs Ffarquarr (???Can't spell that!) is there and then collapses in heaps of giggles when I say she's got the wrong number !! Lesley - I'm worried! How much younger do I sound??? Teenager ??? Or should I worry about how much older I make myself sound !!
Lesley
You sound early thirties but sometimes you make out you are in your 50's I think it's the Forties Housewife effect
Mrs Frugal
Sometimes I feel as if I'm in my fifties - or even sixties or seventies ! It's not easy being a 1940s housewife . May I just remind you all that I am still in my thirties (just) !
Lesley
Only just Kate, only just Today I feel about 101 - but the garden looks nice!
Karen1
It would be quite fun meeting up sometime, wouldn't it? We could have an Omlet convention
Sheilaz
Oh yes! Although I enjoy the company of good friends, and other time spent with people I know less well, I have often said in the past (to poor LSH) that I didn't really have friends who thought the same as me (now that would be hard, and obviously not a very good idea). Especially when bringing up children, I have good friends but often feel I'm swimming against the tide with my opinions and values. All of a sudden, I feel as if I've met those people...well, not met, but feel as if I know you all. At last, people on the same wavelength in many respects. Must be something about chickens. Definitely something more than the chickens in common.. Barminess probably! Think this forum is great & I'm sure some of us will meet up. Meanwhile, I have an awful feeling that if I find myself socialising with people I don't know, my 1st question is going to be "Do you have chickens". Got to be better than "what do you do?" which is a pet hate of mine. Fortunately I'm usually leaping in 1st telling anyone who'll listen about Penny & Chuckles & Eglu so only end up talking to interested/interesting people!
