YorkshirePud
Ooooooooh, only four days to go till we pick up our new girls . The new home is looking cosy with lots of bedding and some old rugs over the whole thing for this chilly weather. Suffice to say we are VERY excited

MedusA
Hello - although I am Newmarket now - I am a TRUE Essex girl - Tell the girls I said hello when they arrive. Ooooh! I used to live in Newmarket. Firstly in the Studlands area then off Edinburgh Road. Roughly whereabouts are you? I still miss Newmarket, the Races, Devil's Dyke and watching the horses on the gallops up Warren Hill.
chili pepper
Helen, I was going to ask if they needed any volunteer helpers at all, do you know if they still do? I would be honored to help out! PS: I make great tea
gooner.girl
Kim, I think Jean (the Essex rescue co-ordinator) has a list of a 'bank' of volunteers she calls on if we are short of people. If you like you can PM you your contact details and i'll email them through to her. If you make great tea you have my vote already! Throw in cake making (as a certain someone on this forum who normally makes all the cakes for the rescue is leaving us soon AFAMILY *sniff) then i am sure they would be more then willing! chili pepper
Oooh Thanks Helen, PM on the way! I'm afraid my cake making skills are a little lacking

Errr! ) I can think of worse ways to spend your birthday then picking up some chickens! Are you coming to this weekends rescue? edited to add - yes i can see from your post you are! clucky1
FOR meDusa 1 - I have lived in Great Bradley , Newmarket (a little village about 6 miles from town) for 4 years. We did a bit of a life changing move from a built up Essex town - Grays -to a little cottage surrounded by cow fields. We are on our todd - half a mile from village. GREAT move and I got to get my chickens !
Egluntyne
Lucky you! We used to live in Sawston, Cambs, and loved Newmarket and all around there. I especially liked Saffron Walden. Gorgeous part of the world....although very flat.
clucky1
Ooh yes - Saffron walden and a place called Long Melford is other favourites of mine. Went into Cambridge today and they now have a Wagamama restaurant - very nice !

Guest
Oh yes - I'll be looking out for you all. Are you allowed to take pictures when you go to pick up? James' class are looking at "changes" this term and I thought the ex batts would be a good focus for him - he can document the progress that ours make but it would be nice to get a few snaps of the whole lot so to speak (And maybe you lot!) gooner.girl
Thats fine Penguinmad. Good idea! Farmers obviously wouldn't want pictures taken at the farm but its not a problem to take them at Jeans.
Catsareus
Hi Clucky1 Just to say that I'm still living in busy essex town called Grays, but have dreams of moving away one day to a country house with large garden! Just got 2 chickens but really enjoying having them and already tempted to get a couple more! Good luck everyone with the rescues.
