feemcg
Found this on the RSPB web site - seems very simple and I wonder if you could make it yourself. They do a water siphon for emptying ponds too but a bit pricey at £21.99. http://shopping.rspb.org.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/rspb/R0122/76532
chelsea
Hubby just bunged some straw in a piece of netting in our pond. It works a treat, we never had any blanket weed last year - pond crystal clear.
xChicken04x
Wow, do you think it could work with a duck pond? xx

chelsea
yes hubby didnt do anything particular aside from putting the straw in. Quite amazing really, we have a large pond with a bridge over it and during the summer we have suffered from blanket weed. The straw is better than any chemical product we have tried from the aquatic centre.
SAB
We inherited a pond when we moved to our current home and were advised to use barley straw - I just shoved some in an old stocking! Seemed to work. (NB - if you try this, don't use the stocking again afterwards!!!)
