Jeanne
What a lovely egg. I am getting 2 cream legbars at 9 ish weeks. (I confess I ordered them yesterday) are they easy to look after at that age? The man said they are easy.

ubereglu
Wonder when your lovely spice will lay? I'm wondering too-and how dark her eggs will be! What a lovely egg.I am getting 2 cream legbars at 9 ish weeks. (I confess I ordered them yesterday) are they easy to look after at that age? The man said they are easy. They should be alright, as long as they're living on their own and not being mixed with your big hens. Once they get to about 12-14 weeks they'll get on better with the others and you can let them free range together. Leave them in their run with water, food and a dustbath and let the big girls free range so they can see but can't get at them. Until they are 16-18 weeks they need to be on grower's pellets. On the week of the food change over do it gradually and mix the quantities of layers and growers. Once they're on the same food they can then be mixed-I did this by putting the two little ones in the bigger ones eglu at night and then rescuing them in the morning. If you need anymore help just PM me.
