Chortle Chook
I'm trying not to buy a skelter, but it's really hard to resist. With bantam and standard eggs I'd end up with 2 though and I really don't have the worktop space Just in case anyone else has this dilemma, I've just found that the egg racks from Artyfarty Designs take banty eggs and normal sized eggs on the same rack. I've been finding it difficult to get an old fashioned rack where the banty eggs don't fall through the hole but these ones work well I used to have skelter but found I was forever breaking eggs as I tried to get them to role downwards
LolaLayla
Come to think of it you never see eggs in chillers in Supermarkets ? so where do you keep yours ? I keep mine in the fridge. We were told on a food hygiene course that it was the safest way to store eggs. We were also told the reason the supermarkets do not do it is because they have a very fast turnover so it is not necessary for a short period of time. If I am baking I take the eggs out beforehand (if I remember) to let them get to room temperature

Olly
That's rather nice! I'm an egg skelter fan myself, and I have never kept eggs in the fridge. Mine are usually used within two weeks of being laid anyway.

Me too, I have wondered if I will need another egg skelter when the bantams start to lay. Chrissie
Chortle Chook
Never stored mine in the fridge (no room!) I bought one of these from ebay: egg holder And really like it That looks the answer for lots of eggs. Wish they had some sort of chicken picture on them though, perhaps a little chicken frieze around the edge, but then I guess I just have twee taste and that would ruin the modern, clutter free look
