SarahJo
Hi Everyone ... had a wee chat with the lovely James, this afternoon and we were discussing the Club Forum. Now ..... would you like the forum to be more accesible to the public, and anyone can come and join in. OR, would you prefer the Club to remain a Password only access to Eglu owners. Please cast a vote .. and give your comments, as this is your forum .
Louise
Oh boy that is a toughie sarah given the c**p we have suffered in places like p.p I think I will vote for no.
Lesley
Well - I voted without reading any further and I agreed with Louise - both RC and P.P forums have become extremely nasty at times.
SarahJo
Thought I knew where this would head ... but everyone is entitled to a say . Having said that I will 2nd the previous post comments , I think its a nice club with fellow Eglu Omleteers.
Mrs Frugal
Definitely an elite forum please! After being called a brainless yuppie on P.P, I'd rather keep this forum strictly for Eglu owners who are, obviously, nice people !
Trish
I know it seems a bit elitist but there are other good forums out there for general Poultry keeping. I like the fact that everyone here has the same set up more or less so we agree on a lot of chicken keeping ideas and we all seem of similar mind on many topics. The atmosphere here is very warm and friendly, I'd hate to see some of the stuff I've seen on the more open forums
Sheilaz
Same here, definitely! I voted no before reading replies. I think there is such a good atmosphere on this forum it would be a shame to risk losing it. There do seem to be lots of other common themes that unite us as well as Eglus. I'm not sure that I would use an open forum very often, except chook illness. I recently invited a guest from forum to visit my girls. Esther (9)immediately said "What, you're inviting a complete stranger to our house, who you met on the internet!" She had a point, what a sensible daughter! I only did this because Omlet must have let them on following an enquiry. I would never have been so welcoming on an open forum! And Becks & family weren't axe murderers....lovely, possibly future Eglu owners! (Any commission?) This made me realise, Omlet may have a few people who want to ask questions, there have been a few more guests. But I don't think having this open is the answer. There could even be a separate link from Omlet site for simple Q & A forum with just one topic...pros & cons of Eglus and chickens. But, please don't open this..its not elitist, just a friendly bunch of Eglu fan club members!
motherhen
I think the current system is just right. Genuine people considering getting an eglu are allowed on as guests, and we all have a lovely forum with everyone being really helpful and supportive. Anna 1
I agree with everyone's comments about keeping the forum for Eglu owners only - and I voted before reading them!
Karen1
I voted no before reading any comments. I think it is such a nice friendly forum, and it would be a shame to lose that. Kate, I didn't know that we were referred to as 'brainless yuppies' on the P.P. forum. Sounds like a bit of jealousy to me
Jangle
I agree with everybody else. I belong to a couple of other forums and unfortnately if you leave them open they tend to degenerate into arguements and slanging matches. I think the moderators would have a much tougher job policing things. This is without doubt the friendliest and most supportive forum I have ever come across and I would like to keep it that way if possible. Mrs Frugal
I think the moderators would have a much tougher job policing things. Well, surely that's sealed it! When would Lesley, Jane and I get our housework done if we had to do some serious moderating ?? Keep it elite then our toilets might get cleaned !! Lesley
Kate, I didn't know that we were referred to as 'brainless yuppies' on the P.P. forum. Sounds like a bit of jealousy to me We were called all sorts of things - every time the Eglu gets mentioned on P.P they all kick off. A previous topic referring to Eglus got so nasty it was deleted - or locked? I can't remember. If it was locked it is probably still there but as they've been Spring Cleaning over there it has probably been removed
Jangle
From memory I think they locked it, and started another thread asking for pictures. I had a look in on the forum this afternoon (when I should have been doing a rather boring mailmerge) and it seems that a lot of posts from the first three months of this year are missing. I think they are trying to resurrect them.
Mrs Frugal
Yes, it was locked !! They were a bit nicer about Eglus in the photographs topic, thank goodness. I stay well away from there now although I did have a quick peep today now they're back. Haven't missed it so I'm not going back again! Louise
The bod selling the eglu on ebay has posted a small topic and there have been a couple of positive replys from someone trying to buy it so either negative comments are being removed or they are leaving us alone a bit maybe some of them have been asked to tone it down
Sammi J
I love this forum just as it is. Everyone on here is lovely and I feel that I have lots of new friends. I really enjoy coming on here and reading stuff that makes me laugh or brightens up my day, as well as learning new things about chickens. I voted to keep it for eglu owners only.
