AliA
The three girls have arrived and are in the Cube run. They are pecking around quite happily in the snow but the little one is huddled in the corner and has not moved since I put her there two hours ago. She nibbled some corn from my hand. She is a pekin bantam and is getting deeper in snow. Shall I pick her up and put her in the roosting box?. I feel very helpless and very worried about her. What shall I do?. Ain't Nobody Here
Poor you, I'm sure she's fine, just a bit fazed by the snow? Have you got some hemcore or something she could scratch about in if you cleared the snow a bit? They do often look a bit dazed at the start - hopefully she'll get the hang of her new surroundings soon . If it's still snowing, could you put a cover on the run to stop it getting deeper? Rona
Oh dear, they are such a worry when you first get them. Don't really know what to suggest but like ANH, I would suggest covering up to protect from worst of weather. Have you got any dried mealworms? I've never heard of a chicken turning up her beak at them Hope the sun starts shining again soon
Egluntyne
It is like having a new baby isn't it...you worry about everything. She is probably a bit overwhelmed by everything. I agree with the suggestion by Rona and ANH that you cover the run....an old shower curtain or similar will do the trick nicely. Could you give her a little bowl of food of her own? The others if they are bigger might be making her a bit timid.
