Strepsy
Yay, can't believe it, first egg! It wasn't completely hard, kind of rubbery but it was a double yolker and weighed 49g. I think it must have been Hatti who laid it as she seems most mature but could have been Pepsi? It was just lay in the run near the feeders. I scrambled it so everyone could try some though I was a bit squeamish about it tbh. I'll post some pics in a bit. lol. Sarah B
Congrats! Why were you squeamish was it because it was a bit rubbery?
Strepsy
I don't know why I was squeamish really. Just the fact that it had come from one of my chickens and was a still a bit warm. Silly really... I'm sure I'll soon get over it.
Snowy
I think that's a normal reaction Strepsy - there is something very sterile about a shop bought egg isn't there? I certainly felt a bit like that with my first few eggs - it soon passes. Then comes back the first time you collect an egg after seeing your chickens wolf down a heap of slugs and snails (or even a frog )
Blackrocksrock
I dont like very fresh eggs - need to keep them a few days - mine are about 1 week behind in the eating stakes

Strepsy
Glad to hear it's normal and not just me then! The rest of the family didn't seem to bat an eyelid and were just excited to try it.

Ain't Nobody Here
Congratulations . It can feel a bit odd if you spend time considering where a warm egg has just come from . So just don't .
