My new chickens

Recommended Posts

Here are some pics of our six chickens from yesterdays Lancashire BHWT rescue. We've got 5 in various stages of floppy combs and baldness and one who nearly looks like a normal chicken. Unfortunately it's not been good weather today so they haven't all been out into the run but it's been lovely to watch them stretching their wings and preening themselves. Oh, and they all laid an egg today as well. We've also all been checking on them throughout the day as well and checking before we've got 3 crammed into one nestbox for the night - lol

Thanks everyone :)

super photos - I love the bottom one!

Edna had been put in the run for 10 minutes to stop her attacking the smallest one (so it could get something to eat and drink) and she wanted to get back in so wasn't happy. I think she looks like she's trying to work out how she can get back in.

I still have one ex bat (+ 3 friends from omlet) Saffy arrived in Jan & now has all her feathers and is laying again, it is great to see her so well & happy, good for you for giving your girls a lovely home it is so rewarding to see them recover & do proper chicken things

Hiya !

They are gorgeous, you'll have so much fun with them. Your hen house looks VERY posh- is it stained inside as well ? very nice , needs a bit of chicken poo on it to scruff it up a bit, sure the girls will oblige

Ali, yes it's stained inside as well - now you know why I was moaning about all the timber treating I was doing-lol. They've already started to scruff it up with the poo - didn't look pristine for long!

They've all been out in the run today and have discovered grass, plants and scratching for bugs :) You wouldn't think that they were in cages on Saturday.
