run being built, almost complete -PICS

Recommended Posts

Here is how the run is developing, it' has no roof at the moment, hence why the girls are still safely in their run, but they have been enjoying every minute it today.

Sleepers are now cut to size and frame is screwed to them inside for added security.

Roof will go on in week and them they can live in the eglu with no run in this enclosure. :D

We have some logs and branches to go inside, including a dustbath. Any ideas of what else we might like to add would be great.

I hope you like it so far. Ao far this has only cost £40 for the wire, everything else hubby had in his garage! Bargain!

thanks, :D it's not finished yet, it has a corrugated roof to go on, but hubs had just about had enough so he needed to stop :D

I cut the wire with the snips!! I was very handy he says!

He is thinking about a shelf to give them another level, what are peoples thoughts on this and has anyone done this in their runs?

I added a treats shelf to our run with a ramp up to it they seem to enjoy sitting up there.

thanks kev I will show hubby that picture for inspiration.

Yes Stevie they'll love the space, although they have been free ranging all day with us out in the garden.. my plants have never taken such a bashing! good job I am not plant protective

I will post an updated picture when he's finished it. His main concern was keeping it as secure as possible and I think he's covered that bless him.

Looking really good. You can tell he is a carpenter by trade - lovely job. Bet the girls can't wait.

I would definately go for the mezzanine floor ! - mine love the mirror they have in their run. Dust bath is still a big hit. Give them a bit of shade somehow, perhaps under the mezzanine - my girls are loving sitting under the Cube in this weather - I suppose you could put the Eglu on a shelf or something and give them a ramp up to that - bet they would love that.

Looking brilliant, bet you can't wait until its finished

thanks :D I think they will have lots of shade because hubby is putting on a metal corrugated roof as this will keep them cooler. He feels that if it proves to be too shaded he will remove a few panels and replace with clear so they have the best of both worlds. But we'll try the metal first.

Definately going to go for an upper floor somehow, but hubby's still pondering on how he wants to do that.

A mirror!!! that's what I forgot!!! thanks! I meant to pick one up!

hubby will be very pleased that everyone likes it, he loves praise

Argos radiator hangers for clothes - you can buy a four pack for about £3 or the like. I put mine on that as my mesh is 1"x1" as well I think, anyway it works okay. I have had to put ties on the back to make the hanger a bit more upright, but does the job.

Forgot you were having the corrugated roof - no worries about the shade then

yes because its only in there at that position temporary, whilst they need their eglu run. when thats removed eglu can go wherever, plus lets face it, it isn't hard to shift over and move the eglu to remove the tray if needed anyways. :D but shouldn't need to do that.
