Just been watching Granada news and there was an article about a lady called Fanny who's reached the grand old age of 105 today, god bless her!

 

They presented her with a bunch of flowers and she said:

 

"I'd rather have a sherry you know"

Good for her - I'd like to be swigging from bottles of sherry when I'm 105

Not that long ago we had a church member who was 107 - she still lived on her own and every tuesday went to McDonalds because they had a pensioner discount (she had her 100th birthday party there)

 

she was known as "old Doris" - because her friend "young Doris" used to go to McDonalds with her - "young Doris" was well into her late 90s!

 

Old Doris attributed her great age to eating raw onion.... she also used to check up on the home help by squeezing the vacuum bag when the home help had left to see how much vacuuming she had done!

 

anyway - on her 107th - we took a photo of Old Doris with three of our 7yr old brownies - simply because there was a century between them. The brownie in the yellow sweatshirt and ginger/toffee hair is my daughter (4 years ago!) Doris is the one in the green coat!

 

 

Doris died not that far short of her 108th....

Its lovely when the 'little old ladies' are like that, especially at that age. Its the ones that mow your heels in Iceland or the like that get on my nerves. Oh and the ones that glare at you on the bus expecting you to get up, even though you've got arms full of shopping and two kids on your lap. Mind you I'll probably be like that, I'm a good glarer
