Our First Egg!!!!-Sugar's Egg! UPDATED! cocoas 1st egg too!!

Recommended Posts

This is our first ever egg, I was eating breakfast in the garden and Sugar went into the eglu and laid this tiny egg in the nest box, she wasn't making that much of a noise, but you knew she was doing something

I have weighed it and it's only 31g!! I am ashamed to say I ran around the gardden like a loony..

Kate you guessed it would be this weekend, we didn't bet money though did we??:lol:

I would have bet it would be cocoa that laid first though... shows how much I know *humph!!*

Wow exceleent news. Don't worry I went completely batty the day we got our first - big big grin all over my face.

Trouble is have had soffies, all decent size now, but for the last 3 days. Hoping it is the weather or her gear trying to get into shape

Hey 31g is good - Roast's second came in at 26g

ooh I thought 31g was small, it seems small in my hand. I might have large hands though

son came home and went loopy!!!!!! he's not bothered it wasn't him that found it, I did contemplate leaving it for him to find, but thought it might get damaged.

It's a very creamy beige, at least now we should know what colour is who's becuase I think the cocoa the black rock will lay a darker egg.

It was funny because cocoa was pacing up and down in front of the eglu, and kept peering in occasionally.

Don't bank on it - Roast our Black Rock laid a lovely cream egg to start with and now she is either laying soft shelled browner eggs or another is laying them and she has given up!!! Hope she is not egg bound at this early stage :? I can't tell who is laying as she seems to be the only one really crouching and the softies are now being laid at night through the roosting bars  Two or three nights in a row now - can't remember

Hoping its the weather

You cant see on the photo but it has tiny white speckles on it... so cuuuuute. :D

Nothing to be ashamed of

I dont know about that snowy, I am hyper!.. I could barely contain myself with one first egg, but then in cocoa went and made a bit more noise than sugar, it has to be said, but then again her egg was a good size for a first egg wasn't it??

Bless them, they have been mooching around the garden looking very proud of themselves.

Next door neighbours hens make an awfull racket when they lay  I have never heard anything like it!

Yes I love the colour difference. I wish there was an egg graphic for cream though... Sugars is definately cream as the breeder said it would be.

We're blowing them though for the children to keep.

I was running around the garden like a looney - whilst the double glazing salesman was sat at my dining room table adding up his figures

It is really great getting those first eggs - I had two in one day, and couldn't believe it!

I am waiting with you - didn't get any softies overnight - have had four in the last two nights. Hoping she is now about to get into the stride of things and give a proper shelled egg

Hope you get two today as well - that would be really something - one with a good shell would do me
