Can a separated g-pig & Rabbit be let out in garden toge

Recommended Posts

Hi

My friend has a dutch rabbit (male) and a guinea pig (male), both 2 years old.

The rabbit has the run of the garden and guinea pig has his own enclosed run. They often lay side by side together (even though gp is in his run), and appear to be good friends.

Could the guinea pig be let out into the garden with the rabbit for a bit of free-ranging and to be in closer contact with his friend rabbit?

Any advice very appreciated.

Many thanks.

I would be a bit more wary for two reasons - firstly from experience I have a pair of rabbots who would inflict serious damage on each other if they were put together and yet are happy to sit side by side with a wire divider in their permanent run. Also a rabbit can severely injure a guinea pig, so perhaps it is best to leave it at status quo?

nooooooo

piggies and rabbits should not be mixed even in play. Rabbits have very powerful back legs which can kill piggies. Rabbits may also try and express their dominance by chasing, nipping and humping, this could be seriously bad news for the piggie
