I was trawling the tinterweb this morning because I seems to have a mass of ants in my pear tree and have now found out that they are harvesting aphids there - bit like their very own pub. While i was trying to find information I came across this article ....

That's interesting Claire, and really made me laugh - I love their way of writing.

 

I get ants coming in under my front door every summer, so I sprinkle a thin line of Diatom along the door jamb and it stops them in their tracks, never to be seen again.

 

I might try that tack on the black-fly currently infesting on of the plants on my patio.

Didn't know Diatom was good for ants (well not exactly good but you know what I mean!), I was wondering what I could use around the base of my pot plants that wasn't harmful to chickens. Wish my girls would eat ants!!!!
