I've just been looking at Omlet's breeders list and there are SO few Scotish poultry breeders on it! Come on Scots! :lol: Let's try to add all the places we know of to the list (one's you would recommend only). There must be more than the two I can find by Googling. Is there a moderator who could add it to the official list for us, pretty please??

Try emailing Barbara@omlet.co.uk as she may have some listed in your area. 2 in the whole of Scotland sounds a bit desperate, doesn't it!! Bet there are more hiding away quietly .

Kintaline Poultry Centre is good (vaguely near Oban).

All Year Round Birds is also OK (East Lothian).

I can't remember the name of the place we got ours from now though!

The best place to find breeders is in Practical Poultyr magazine, they have a section.

Scottish borders has Paula's poultry. Lovely hens from there.

Not so sure about All Year Round birds - took money from my account that they did not have and did not know when would have; also have heard some worrying stories from others re conditions of birds.

I got Lohmann Browns 3 years ago from Eddie Lovett near Houston, Renfrewshire and was very pleased with the hens. I know this is on the Omlet list.

 

On Sunday I'm getting 4 new girlies from 2 private breeders and on Monday I'm getting 2 hybrids from McIntyre's in Ayrshire - a Black Rock and a Bluebelle.

I have found a breeder in Aberdeenshire who I hope to visit within the next month or so I need two or three big girls which lay different coloured eggs

 

They have a great range of birds but I can't recomend them just yet so don't know wether I should post a link.

I got my girls from Ballencrieff Mains Farm in Longniddry (not far from Edinburgh). Don't know if he's an actual breeder or just has chickens to sell eggs but he did seem to have a few different breeds. I would recommend him - my girls have been very healthy.

We used RA Lovett http://www.ralovett.co.uk/ near the bridge of weir. They were most helpfull and we still use them for food etc
