Couperman
Fearing for my back on the new allotment clearance venture I have just ordered a couple of these.... Azadas. A nice light girly one for me and a heavy duty one for Cathy  http://www.get-digging.co.uk/tools.htm Now that looks more like my idea of digging. Ten times quicker and easier than a spade apparently. My dad had one when I was a kid but it was only a little thing, these look much more serious. Has anyone got one of these and are they as good as people say? Kev.
Guest
I read somewhere that someone on here has one of those, I think it's Egluntine but don't quote me.
The Dogmother
I think that Dilly has one, but she's out of action at the moment.

Lesley
@ Cathy .... but don't you still have to bend to use it? - it still looks like a back-breaker to me! I use a long-handled spade if I have to do any digging but as we're mostly tidy now, we have a 'very little digging' policy.
Egluntyne
You do have to bend to use it, but somehow it isn't anything like as back-breaking as using a spade. I remember when the postman delivered it....just the blade was wrapped in paper......and he said "I feel like the Grim Reaper...stood standing here!" Christian
I use a mattock and find it very easy too use and not too hard on my dodgy back
Couperman
I hope they are delivered today so I can practice my technique in the garden. I don't want to look a total novice down the lotty I nearly ordered a scythe too If only Cathy had mentioned her Reaper fetish Kev.
