Our Bluebelle is also known as 'Roadrunner' cos she goes everywhere at a trot- looks like she is permanently late for an appointment Margo is reffered to as 'Nosy Parker' - self explanatory really, she has her beak into everything ! Elsie has earned herself the nickname of 'Psycho chicken' that was after an amusing episode where my 11yr old was sat on his trampoline eating his lunch and Elsie hopped up onto the trampoline and made a beeline for his sarnies. He, of course, stood up and moved away, Elsie followed him , until he was running around his trampoline shouting, with Elsie hot on his heels,jumping and flapping, he was shouting 'mum,get her off, get her off!' but I was too busy laughing to be much help He couldn't get off the trampoline cos that involves sitting down to scoot off the edge - and every time he tried to sit, Elsie was there, he eventually pushed her off with his foot and announced 'that chicken is a psycho !' Pepper is known as 'Toot' , because that's the sound she makes. Lottie and Hattie don't have nicknames yet, sure it's just a matter of time. Mine are just called frilly knickers.. Neighbours dont half look funny when you call oi!!! Frilly Knickers!! This is because she is honey blonde, has always had a fluffy bottom!!! and her comb is still floppy. It looks like she is wearing a hat at a jaunty angle. Lucy, the tiniest and originally featherless has always been nicknamed Shirley Temple. This is because her character is so sparkly, who could not love her! Collectively the hens are called "wits" and not chickens or hens. This came from them being called "chickychocs" and then "chocwits" and now its just "wits". Sunshine Posted May 18, 2008 Share Posted May 18, 2008 We never gave our chickens proper names they just got nicknames when they arrived which werent planned so when we spoke about them everyone knew which chicken we were talking about(we have 4 chickens - 2 of each) So we have Bossy, Scruffy, Red beard and Black beard/black one. She was nicknamed so because I love snooker and was watching Ronnie O'Sullivan do his stuff at the Crucible around the time that we got the girls. She might not score maximum breaks but she certainly rockets around that pen when she's a mind to! Rosie and Maisie haven't managed to earn themselves nicknames -YET!
