WitchHazel
I went to see a lovely lady in Hook today, and bought two 8 week old Girls: a Welsummer and a Cream Legbar I'm not ready to have Girls that young (and my cats would DEFINITELY try and eat them at that size), so she's going to hold on to them for me until they reach 14 weeks - which means I'll be collecting them at the beginning of July. At least that gives me a couple of weeks to see if I can get hold of a second hand purple eglu, before I explain to DH why we have to have a new one. They won't replace Lydia, but they will help fill the gap she's left. She also had some light sussex, some cuckoo marans (much prettier in the flesh than the pics, and the chicks are just soooo lovely), and I was very tempted to get 3 while I was at it. DH was remarkably calm while I was considering this, which surprised me a bit as, when I was deciding to get hens originally, he had an outburst in a resataurant when I mentioned the F word - "Four"). In the end I decided to stick to two new girls now. And then, as a white egg layer would be great, maybe another two (because you can't introduce one hen) at the end of the year. He barely flinched at this news - I suspect he's thinking there's no point in overreacting now as I'll just dig my heels in. Anyway. Sorry to ramble on, just wanted to share my news. WitchHazel
Suprised me that you are asking for a purple eglu.. I would have bet money on you going with another orange for some reason.. shows what I know.. ho hum.. I was going to go for orange, and that was what I was looking for. I love my ornage cube and think it's definitely the best colour there is. But when I was looking out of my bedroom window I wsa thinking that an orange Eglu next to an orange cibe might be a bit of overkill - too much of a good thing. I think purple will complement it perfectly, so that's what I've decided to go for now.
