Chickens and weddings

Recommended Posts

Following one from a previous post....as my poor girls can't physically lay enough eggs in a short enough space of time for me to use their presents as favours on my wedding day.....what can i do to get the little darlings involved? :D

I suppose i could have them all as bridesmaids and follow me down the aisle.....Hehehe! :lol:

Could you not have pictures of them round the cake table :lol:

Or if your garden is big enough have the reception there and then you can have them free ranging as pure hentertainment for your guests. You could put a pretty bow on them.

Do they like their pink curtains by the way or have they pecked them?

P.S. When is your wedding? You'll have to let us know, there's a celebrations section on here too!

I will definately get them in somehow so thanks for the ideas!!

My mums garden is big enough but on a slope so it wasn't possible to have a marquee otherwise i could have had them there - it would have been so lovely, although could have made my dress messy when putting them to bed :lol:

They love their pink curtains, thought they would get filthy but 10 days on......absolutely spotless!! :D My girls have taste!

Oh really, haven't really ventured any further than the chicken section :lol: I get married on 6th December so 6 months left to go!! Must admit, getting married isn't half as exciting as getting chickens but shhhhh :lol:

I really wanted to get my bears (dogs) involved at my wedding however having 3 English Bull Terriers in church and trying to sing to the hymns wasnt really a good idea :roll::lol: so we had a totally crazy 3 tier cake made and they featured on two of the tiers. :lol:

We were on the top tier stood on a hill surrounded by trees and flowers and the bears were with us.

On the bottom tier which was a 'top table' they peeked out from under the cloth and were eating wedding cake.

Maybe you could have your cake maker pop some chooks onto your cake doing silly things like dustbathing in confetti, pecking at your feet or drinking from a wine glass?

:lol::lol::lol:

we can't eat in the garden while the girls are free ranging as they jump up to steal :o which can be a bit disconcerting when you're not expecting a chicken to jump onto your arm while carrying a cup!!!!

Anyway you should be the centre of attention on your wedding day, and if the chickens are free ranging everyone would ignore you!

What about if you make a really pretty temp. run and hen house for them? So, on the day, they can be part of the decoration in the garden! For example, do you know of someone who has a plastic playhouse that is brightly coloured? You could paint the names of your hens on wooden plaques and hang ribbons around the outside of the run. Although not practical for permenance, for a few hours on your wedding day, the hens will look cute, will be contained and have a place to keep warm. You could fill the run with straw.....just a few hours will be OK. They would be a point of interest, especially if you have children coming to the wedding.
