Had to count my fingers after trying them out with a slice of tomato. They don't seem to want to go in the Eglu though, but seem quite content destroying the grass, am sure they will later on. Tried putting McNugget in through the egg port... what a stupid idea that was, never realised the garden had so many chicken sized hiding places, got her in there in the end... through the run door using previously undiscovered chicken herding skills

Mrs Frugal
They are gorgeous speckly girls. If they're anything like my Izzy was, they'll be smashing hens - all fluffy with big bloomers . Congratulations. They are gorgeous!

owenofj
Thanks everyone... not entirely sure what they are... general hybrids, but they're so pretty I don't mind. Pecky Su clucked like three times (and collapsed on the ground in a laying pose... got ever so excited) and big-knickered neighbour slammed her back door shut, followed by slamming of windows. There was no egg.... I blame the window slamming

Bexiboo
Awww they look gorgeous! I take it your neighbour doesn't approve of the chooks then. I haven't mentioned getting chooks to mine. I am only getting 2 so I am hoping they will be so quiet he will hardy notice (some hope lol)
cluckbok
Hi ya, I'd say two of them are definately Speckledys, one of them looks a little different though, not sure about that one, they all pretty girls though, they will have lovely fluffy bloomers!!. We've got a Speckledy, she's quite shy but friendly. She's not laying at the moment she's only laid twice! We only had her since March though so we hoping she's gonna lay properly soon. She's called "Pecky". enjoy!!
cluckbok
Oh and by the way to the neighbour!! Some people eh!! the hens make lovely noises. Better than the barking dogs all the time eh.
Ain't Nobody Here
What gorgeous girls . And your eglu is so bright and vibrant - it's lovely .

owenofj
Thank you all... there's definitely some bloomers of Pecky Su and Henrietta... McNugget seems to have pulled some feathers out, presumably for egg laying comfort. Neighbour is anti everything... anti-chickens, anti-noise and anti-diets. She's worried about a few squarks... you don't wanna know what we have to listen to of an evening **shudder** they should make bedroom walls thicker. LOL well if she ever says anything to you about the chooks you could always casually mention your thin bedroom walls
frenchlayer
You could always try bribing the neighbour with some eggs. Luckily my neighbours already have chickens but others here have said that works a treat. Good luck. If that doenst work just chuck the poo over the fence and give her something to really moan about. cluckbok
Yeah I agree with the others, you could mention that you don't particularly like listening to her squarking in the bedroom either!!! I tell you what round here the collared doves make more noise cooing than our chooks do!!
owenofj
That's the plan if it does kick off... currently listening to her screaming at her poor child for not eating her dinner.... dunno why she doesn't just do what we do and beat them with big sticks I did say they could have some eggs once we got going, husband looked really impressed, she just looked even more annoyed. How could I forget, got home and one of them had laid an egg!! Yaaaaaaaay!!!!
