Omletina Kyckling
Hi, that's what I did....I measured enough food out into a separate trug, added the right amount of Flubenvet and fed it over the week....each day I would give them some of the food made up with hot water as porridge as they always wolf that down (don't seem to realise it's just their usual food but as porridge) so I knew they were getting the right dose between them... I know others feed it to theirs by smearing it on grapes etc....so they get their individual dose that way. Hope this helps, Diane
KateP
I know others feed it to theirs by smearing it on grapes etc....so they get their individual dose that way.Diane I use the grape method but I think it depends how many chickens you have got. I've only got two but if you have more it may be difficult as some of them might eat more than their share!
superjules
I put it in their usual food for 7 days.

Troy
Thank you everyone for that advise. I think I'll go the mixed in food routine. We have six and doing the grape thing would be a nightmare! There are absolutely no squabbles but three of them are a little rude to say the least. Troy
Egluntyne
I mix it with their pellets.
BarbaraJ
Mix it in their mash here, just finished a course today. Their first saw no worms so presume they were worm free. I'll wait another 6mths and do it agian!
Troy
So is every 6 mos adequate? Sorry everyone but I'm going to have to pour my poor stressed heart out to you all as I've only known you all to care and I think I need some moral support here or maybe just an early night , but quite frankly our intro to chickens has been a really horrid one. (except for Phyllis and Maude our 2 ISA Browns.) 2 of the other 4 girls ie our lovely Pekins came to us in what we now know was poor health. Being new and ignorant to this we did'nt realise it at the time (plus we foolishly trusted the 'very reputable' man we got them from) and this week has been a mad race to 'sort them out'. Its been quite stressful really.....we have seen nits on 2 of them AND scaly legs on one. Infact the scaly leg is soooo bad Lillys feet are quite deformed and it looks like she has lost a couple of toes. She is walking fine and is currently vaselined up with her filthy leg feathers cut off. Its all been down to sheer neglect really and I will certainly not use this 'place' again. But the girls are now here and really lovely. If they had been ex-batts (which is something for the future)I suppose we may have had to deal with it too. So from being upset we have taken this all as a big-no HUGE - learning curve. But it really is disheartening to meet such uncaring people. Anyway, we are treating them as a whole and have started a course of Ivermectin (recommended by Thornes who have been fantastic with advise etc))so hopefully fingers crossed, they should be ok. Sorry to babble on, but if there are any other suggestions how I can help these lovely girls pls let me know. Thanks for lending me your ears! Ain't Nobody Here
I'm so sorry to hear about your bad luck . What a filthy rotten man to keep chickens in a state like that (not you , the bloke you got the poor things from ). They're very lucky to have landed up with you and I'm glad they're recovering under your tlc. Sounds like you're doing all you possibly can. Is there any way you can report this man? Is he neglecting all his livestock? Sorry I can't offer advice about the particular problems your girls have, I've no experience. Just wanted to say sorry the start of your chicken keeping has been so stressful. Just keep thinking how you've saved those little girls from even more neglect . Abbey Road Girl
Troy, so sorry that you've been thrown in at the deep end due to being sold poorly hens. At least you will be a good responsible hen keeper! Best of luck in getting them into good condition.

Hen Watch
So is every 6 mos adequate? I got my Omlet girls in April 07 and I never wormed them until Feb this year when I got some Flubenvet and thought I really should do this as it seems lots on this forum worm the chooks regularily. I put a 4 month reminder in my diary and decided to worm them this week after I came home from holiday. Never, ever seen a worm and thought it was just precautionary, so I happily started their 2nd course of Flubenvet (grape method for me by the way). And lo and behold, 2 days into worming, I find a great big, long worm in their poo tray........!! So glad I did the 2nd worming, but think I might change this to every 3 months now instead.
