All three of our Pepperpots have taken to making loads of noise in the mornings. Two like to announce their eggs, the other who isn't laying just likes to let us know that she's there from time to time.. but we never hear a sound from the Pepperpots?

Anyone else found the same?

My Opal is by far the loudest, she announces when she's laid and egg...or anybody else has  but not all the time. On the whole they are quiet chickens  Pearl just honks very quietly like a goose and Ruby I've never noticed. Hopefully they won't get any louder!

1st position - Most noisy - my Amber Star hybrid. Gets spooked easily and bok boks for no reason.

2nd position - both Gingernuts. "I've laid an egg" or "Ohhh there's a magpie"......

3rd position - my Pepperpot. The most quiet but likes to join in on an "alert" if the other 3 are going for it.

My gingernuts and pepperpots are both quite chatty and have both been known to announce eggs. But the worst is my skyline, closely followed by the araucana hybrid. Must be something in their blue egg genes! They have really screechy voices, and aren't afraid to use them :?

I only have Pepperpots and have not had any complaints from the neighbours. As far as I know (and I sleep a short distance from the Cube), they are quiet critters.

Yes, they announce their egg-laying accomplishments as they well should, but otherwise they make lovely little trumpeting sounds (with an occasional rude bok).
