ajm200
All three of our Pepperpots have taken to making loads of noise in the mornings. Two like to announce their eggs, the other who isn't laying just likes to let us know that she's there from time to time.. but we never hear a sound from the Pepperpots? Anyone else found the same? daj198
In my experience, which to be fair is limited, ex-batts are the noisiest. The gingernut ranger that I have is FAR quieter...
Egluntyne
My pepperpots are far noisier than the others and lead the Bok Bokking if there is a cat about.
KateP
My gingernut is constantly clucking quietly and my pepperpot doesn't make much noise but if something scares them it's the pepperpot who shouts the loudest!
Chickvic
My Opal is by far the loudest, she announces when she's laid and egg...or anybody else has but not all the time. On the whole they are quiet chickens Pearl just honks very quietly like a goose and Ruby I've never noticed. Hopefully they won't get any louder! Stevie
Onion my Gingernut sounds like a bird of prey when she's begging for food.
moochoo
I've not heard much out of my gingernuts. My buttercup, Honey is the noisiest but only when she's laid or in appreciation of the others' laying skills.
Seagazer
My 3 are pretty quiet but my pepperpot makes a bit more noise than the two gingers, but its only a gentle bok bok - for now.
Hen Watch
1st position - Most noisy - my Amber Star hybrid. Gets spooked easily and bok boks for no reason. 2nd position - both Gingernuts. "I've laid an egg" or "Ohhh there's a magpie"...... 3rd position - my Pepperpot. The most quiet but likes to join in on an "alert" if the other 3 are going for it. Jane 20
My gingernut is generally the noisest - but she is 'top hen'.
Snowy
My gingernuts and pepperpots are both quite chatty and have both been known to announce eggs. But the worst is my skyline, closely followed by the araucana hybrid. Must be something in their blue egg genes! They have really screechy voices, and aren't afraid to use them
Abbey Road Girl
I only have Pepperpots and have not had any complaints from the neighbours. As far as I know (and I sleep a short distance from the Cube), they are quiet critters. Yes, they announce their egg-laying accomplishments as they well should, but otherwise they make lovely little trumpeting sounds (with an occasional rude bok). Sarah B
Both of mine are a total squawing nightmare now but I think my is the worst
