Laura007
i am making a wedding cake for a friend and i am struggling to find a 10" square cake tin, round ones you can get no problem and heart shaped ones even hexagonal ones, but it seems to be really difficult to get a square one. does anyone know where i may be able to get one?? The Managing Director
and there is always ebay, I've bought cake tins on there before, cakecraft are very good though have used them lots. If you make lots of cakes there is also a square tin that lakeland do which has an adjustable division in it so you can make different sizes http://www.lakelandlimited.co.uk/product.aspx/!10972 they are more expensive but I have one and it is brilliant , and folds away flat Do you make lots of cakes Laura, I got landed with 2 family wedding cakes last year, was so stressed by it, especially the transporting three tiers of cake from Bristol to yorkshire good luck
Laura007
i did 100+ fairy cakes for my brother in law's wedding a couple of years ago and my chum was reminded of this by another friend when she started looking into all her wedding plans. next thing i know i am going to be making 2 tiers of fruit cake and a middle layer of chocolate cake and an extra fruit layer for the evening guests! i can marzipan and ice it, but when it comes to the arty farty stuff of decorating i do believe she is getting some things to put on the top and a nice broad ribbon is going round the edge. sorted. The Dogmother
I think that Lesley used to do cakes a long time ago - she might even be selling her tins - just guessing though.
Lesley
I don't have any tins anymore- but if you have a cake shop locally, you can usually hire them, that's what I used to do. Laura - I used to hate making the actual cake but loved the arty-farty bit Sugarcraft it my forte - I love making sugar flowers although I don't do it anymore. If there is a local branch of the Sugarcraft Guild, your friend may be able to get someone to make the decorations for her?
