Just wanted to share the news with all that I have just lost my gingernut, Pecks, to a fox... he snatched her off the lawn, must have been instantaneous, no noise, just feathers left.

Am totally gutted as she was the friendliest, chattiest of my hens and the best layer.

Don't know what to do with the remaining hen, Posh. Don't want her to live alone as i don't think that is fair, but nor do I want to get new hens just yet before I have built a fox fortress....

But anyway, need to grieve first!

Thanks for reading.

RIP Pecks.

so sorry.

You'll need to keep Posh safe anyway while you're building Foxproof Fortress - I would get her some new chums, and keep them in the run (I'm assuming you have an Eglu?) for a while. It will do them no harm, and they'll get to know each other in close quarters.
