Helen&Lee
I went to Homebase at the weekend to buy Garden Lime to sprinkle down in the run but couldn't find any. Does anyone know were I can get it from normally? Thanks, Helen.
The Dogmother
Most hardware stores or garden centres should stock it.
Egluntyne
B&Q sell it. I often get it from a local garden centre too.
quickcluck
silly question but what do you use it for?
Egluntyne
Freshening up the ground that the hens have ranged on. It restores the PH to what it should be and kills pongs beautifully.
beach chick
its' on my list. can I just ask, is it ok to just sprinkle it on top of the bare earth, or does it need to be covered/raked in somehow? my eglus are in permanent positions now, so all the grass has gone and its just bare earth in the big girls' one and will be eventually in the babies'. quite happy with that, and they seem fine with it. The Dogmother
Just clear the Aubiose into the compost, sprinkle the lime on then put clean Aubiose down.
beach chick
what if you dont use aubiose or hemcore? coz my girls only sleep in their eglu and freerange from dawn to dusk, I havent got into any of that. (no objection to it, it just seems like 'another thing' and I dont seem to need it!)
