SAB
Have picked up my ex-batts from the 1st BHWT Scottish rescue - well done to Jim Duff in persevering to persuade Scottish farmers. Went for 4, got 6! Pretty good condition, a few missing feathers, but generally pretty good and seem quite healthy.

Egg Lou
Oh congratulations! and well done for giving an extra 2 a loving home! Do you have any pictures yet?
SAB
Sorry - no photos yet (or indeed of my non-Batts that I got about a month ago). Life pretty hectic just now due to sudden arrival of 4 year old boy who is joining our family - followed quickly by unexpectedly hearing I was next in line for ex-batts - I am exhaused but elated! Will get photos sorted soon I hope.

Ain't Nobody Here
Congratulations on the new chickens (and the new boy ) .
SAB
Well my 6 ex-batts that only arrived yesterday have already produced 3 eggs! Unfortunatley I did not get a chance to collect them as my OH who claims to hate chickens had already been out to check on them and had brought in and washed the eggs - hmm, not so sure that he hates chooks as much as he claims! Ain't Nobody Here
Congratulations on the eggs . Even though they're not the first eggs they've laid, it must still be exciting for you . BTW, you'd better tell your chicken-hating OH that washing eggs isn't always advisable - have a read of * this thread *.
Lovemychooks
Congratulations on the chickens and the 4 year old I wash my eggs with water and fairy liquid but won't be doing that now...will just wipe them with a damp cloth. Thanks for the tip.
..lay a little egg for me
Can you make that a dry cloth please lovemychooks?! You might still contaminate the innards with a damp one! (sorry).
Lovemychooks
Yes of course ! I really didn't think about how they would be contaminated by washing them but it just shows you
SAB
Thanks all for mentioning about the washing of eggs - however, it turns out my "chicken hating" OH had not washed them, but had just wiped them with kitchen roll as he knew (from childhood holidays on farm in Ireland) that you should avoid washing them - I am highly suspicious of his claim to hate chickens!!! ardentinny
I too collected our 6 girls from Perthshire on Saturday. Jim and his volunteers did an excellent job! I posted a full report, photo's and video on my site at http://www.ardentinny.org. We also have a LIVE webcam set up within the henhouse (3 views dependent on activity!), so u can watch these girls 24 hours a day Enjoy! SAB
Great Ardentinny - can now show my children what happened at the rescue as they were desperate for all the details!
SAB
Oh Ardentinny - we have just watched it and the kids had such a laugh - I am well caught by my OH thanks to you!! I am the woman right at the end of your great video clearly stating "I'm here for 6" when I had "promised" my OH that I would not come back with any more than 4!!!!! Hilarious!
