shaun
Have got some Flubvenet worming powder, but the dosage is for 1000s of birds. How much do people add to food for 4 chucks?? Same question for chicken spice Thanks
chelsea
chicken spice im never very exact - I just sprinkle in the grub and swirl around with finger. For flubenvet we use the grape/raisin method (some people add it to the feed or some do the grape/raisin method) Slice open small grape or raisin Get tip of very sharp knife and place small amount of flubenvet on the very tip place flubenvet inside opened grape/raisin enclose grape/raisin to disguise evidence feed to chicken individually for 7 days. instead of the knife method, you could just dip half the grape into the flubenvet. Hen Watch
Flubenvet for 4 chooks = 1 level teaspoon (ie. 5ml). I use the grape method too, so I put that amount on some foil, cut it into 7 days worth. Then divide each day into 4 to give to each chook. (Hopefully no one thinks I'm an addict with white powder on foil on my windowsill........) Take a look at this post of mine. http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18663&highlight=flubenvet Sorry, edit to say, Poultry spice, I personally add half teaspoon to their treats (such as cooked rice or mashed potato as it sticks nicely and I know they will eat it all). ..lay a little egg for me
I have been wrestling with this problem too but was reassured to find in my internet searches that the toxicity is very low: they gave over half a teaspoon per bird per day with no ill effects (1 teaspoon between 4 birds over 7 days is tiny in comparison), so I was satisfied that it did not have to be exact. I have tried mixing it with the feed (stirred a teaspoonful into 7-days worth of feed) but they don't seem too keen to eat it, so I may try the rice/mash method (though I suppose I will wait a few days to see if they will eat the medicated pellets). frenchlayer
I was looking for the same dosage thing too, as I need to do mine. One of the lovely ladies on the forum sent me some because I can't get it here. (youknowwhoyouareyoulovelyladyandtheclueinthisline!) But the grapes here are horrible seeded things and I never buy them so I will have to go the raisin route I think. Anyway thanks for the thread link.
