Ain't Nobody Here
We're off on our cycling holiday in Umbria in 16 days . I've spent the day checking out all the hotels we're staying in (6 in total ), printing off instructions, photos, information, etc. I like to be prepared . I'm starting to get nervous about silly things like will I cope with the mileage and will we be able wash our clothes . Not to mention getting ourselves from Rome to the start of the holiday (a 5 hr train journey with a change). We're going to out of the way places so I've been practising my extremely rusty Italian and making lists of phrases we might need. We've never been on a holiday like this before, we've always taken our car on ferries to Europe so it'll be the first time we've all flown together . Any tips from anyone who's been on a cycling holiday before? (I've already got the padded undershorts .)
Egluntyne
Wow. Sounds wonderful. Lucky you.
Helen&Lee
No tips but it sounds a great holiday. I know someone who was in Rome last week, it was very hot. I would imagine in that weather you will be able to wash through clothes and they will dry quickly. Helen
theherd123
Im sure you will have a wonderful time. Be prepared for any weather
Phonix
Working with outdoor clothing I would say that a must have is high wicking T-shirts especially if its hot....and possibly duo-skin trousers/shorts not only will these let your sweat be absorbed away from your body they also dry really quicky so are good for washing/drying reasons! xXx
Olly
Hopefully you'll have a high-wicking T-SHIRT, ANH, and not the other thing which would be very bad news on a cycling trip ...
Ain't Nobody Here
I've bought 2 wicky-wacky t-shirts especially for the holiday . Just need to get rid of the belly now as that could be classed as excess baggage .
Guest
Have edited the unfortunate spelling mistake....... No advice from me, other than, remember to have a great time, and watch out for local chickens!

MadMitch
Lucky you. Umbria is gorgeous. Trains are easy in Italy, just don't hang out of the window to buy pastries etc. at the stations unless you have the correct money because if you give them a large note they very quickly disappear. Also try not to fall asleep as "Ooops, word censored!"ody will wake you. I fell asleep on my way from Rome to Venice and woke up in Budapest. Ain't Nobody Here
Thanks for the tips . Budapest . Did you then have to jump on the next train back?
MadMitch
Yes we did, both my sister and I, we only just got back in time to catch our flight home. It was a real laugh. On the way back we were sat in a carriage which was full of nuns (the train was like the Harry Potter type, though not steam) one of the nuns gave me a small box and kept smiling and nodding at it. I thought she must want me to open it for her as she was quite old and frail. So I did and it was full of canaries and the all flew out and started to fly around the carriage. It took me b****y ages to catch them all.
