I went to Hampton Court Gala Preview and got .......

absolutely drenched!! :shock::shock:

I've been to the show a few times and have always wanted to go to the evening preview but it is very pricey so this was a special treat. We took our own picnic as they wanted silly money for their Fortnum & Mason ones and at least I knew where the eggs came from in mine. :D Anyway, apart from the weather it was good as it wasn't so crowded (but that might have been due to the rain) and it was easier to talk to the exhibitors and stall holders that were there.

By the time we got from the car park to one of the marquees my trousers were soaked to the knees so I bent down to roll them up a bit and got a hood full of water over my head, as the rain had run off my brolly into it. :lol::lol:.

The organisers did a fantastic job of coping with the weather and in typical British fashion everyone just got on with enjoying themselves in spite of it. Although that might have been the half bottle of champoo that was included in the price. I feel so sorry for the exhibitors and stall holders if they have to put up with that sort of weather for the rest of the week.

We didn't stay for the fireworks at the end but as I don't really approve of fireworks I wasn't too bothered about that. We were going to go to the Rose Gardens in St Albans on the way home this morning even though it was still raining but when we got there it was closed :( .

There is just so much lovely stuff to buy I could have spent a fortune but as I am not working at the moment, I just bought a spiral thing with two crystal balls in it to hang up either in the conservatory or outside in the summer. I wasn't going to buy anything but just got caught by a moment of weakness on the way back to the car park.

I can't buy any more plants at the moment as I have to do a lot of digging and rearranging the garden over the next couple of months so I know they would just get left in pots and die.

OH and I went a couple of years ago and got there after 3pm as it was cheaper and the site didn't close until 8pm. Virtually had the place to ourselves after 5 when everyone else went home.

That sounds like a good plan, might try it another year. I just don't have the energy to do a whole day now anyway.
