bunee1
good point, Hannah! I may be wrong, but didn't India ban the use of plastic bags last year - this was one of the reasons, along with the fact that they were clogging up India's antiquated sewerage system... the India Plastic Bag Corporation (or some similar body) was bleating about the loss of jobs... Phil Yes i hear they have, a couple of other countries have too that i can't remember (third wold tho)...food parcels being sent to them had individual plastic bags, and as there is no way of disposing of them they all swirl about in the villages clogging things up!!.... If third world countries can ban carriers why on earth can't we

Hellcat
Just spent 2 days in Cornwall and went to Eden Project. It was a top day out and the children loved it! I bought a fantastic mint green jute bag from there. Really nice, tasteful eden branding on it and less than £3! Bargain!
ali-s
I bought another bag from TK Maxx on Saturday. There were hardly any left on the shelves. My collection of reusable bags is growing Helen your green bag was a good price. The ones on the different sites are very nice, but so expensive. Hellcat
Well, I was pleased. One always feels that one needs to buy a memento of where we've been and so often its overpriced tat, so I was chuffed to find something useful AND cheap!

The Dogmother
Just spoke to blokie at Oxford - they have several in stock in different colourways, including some from old ranges, so that sounds good. He is going to see exactly what they do have (as opposed to what's on his computer) and is ringing me back, so that looks hopeful. Are you likely to be coming to the Omlet do in August Hannah? if so, I'll happily get one for you and bring it along
The Dogmother
The chap from Habitat in Oxford called me back (always a good start), they have all the colours on the website, plus a couple of others that are from another season (I think that he said one was plain red). I have asked him to set one of the red/purple flowered ones aside for me to collect on Saturday. I anyone wants one and is going to be at the Omlet do in August or able to collect it from me, then please PM me and I will happily get it for you. Thanks for pointing this out to me Hannah
The Dogmother
Well, I got one on Saturday - they are pretty good (I haven't tried it yet) It doesn't have a frame, just a big bag with wheels (that's the only gripe I could have), the good side of this is that it folds up to a small package about 20 x 30cm. I will try it out at the weekend and report back. Thanks for getting me going on this Hannah; it will save my aching arms
ali-s
My 2 jute bags from TKMaxx earned 4 green points at Tescos today How are getting on with the trolley bag Clare?
The Dogmother
That trolley bag is fab Ali and really saves my arms. It would've been better if it had a frame, but then it would've been more expensive Our Tesco are doing that too - if we take in old Tesco bags or any other bags, we get 1 clubcard point for each new Tesco bag we don't use. The catch for me is trying to remember to take other bags with me I wonder whether they would object to me taking along some Sainsbury and M&S bags
ali-s
A lady today was using ASDA bags at the next checkout I keep forgetting to take the bags with me Now as soon as I have put the shopping away I put the bags in the car boot. The Dogmother
Good idea Ali, although I can see me not doing it when I've had to park the car 50 yards up the road
Louise
My biggest bugbear with the supermarket carrier bags is they are too fragile to be reused They used to be decent and could be reused and used around the house for other stuff but now when I use them they nearly always have a hole at the bottom or a ripped side I must get myself some of the omlet bags Any excuse
Guest
the Omlet bags are fab, although could maybe do with being slightly bigger! They're really strong, and so much nicer than nasty poly bags! I got 3 green points today, using my Omlet bags!
ali-s
I ordered an Omlet bag on Friday If they are good I will get the set of three My shopping bag collection is growing
Louise
I have just ordered 2 sets of 3 Unfortunately at the same time a hot pink T-shirt and a hot pink apron kind of fell into the basket at the same time How on earth did that happen I know this is hoping but I want the t-shirt for Friday as on Friday afternoon one of the departments here are having a party and it would be so cool to wear
