LJ's Chooks
Ok so normally I'm ok at baking cakes, stick to the recipe, my oven's ok, and life is good. Today though, I don't know what has come over me... hormones etc, everything going wrong. So i thought i would chear myself up and bake a cake. Mmmmmm claret's yummy lemon cake would be great. Why don't i ever check what ingredients i have or havent got before i lurch into baking!!!! eggs - yep, butter - yep, and that's about it. I've got some SR flour, not enough, so figured plain and baking powder would be ok. Lemons... oh they are a bit dodgy and can't get the rind off .... coconut cake then maybe.... Oh its a disaster. the cake tin isn't big enough, so it is currently poaring out of the tin all over my oven!!! I hate cleaning my oven and i hate rubbish cake.... Oh i wish it was friday already, i feel a total muppet and there is an element of science to cake making and i've broken every rule in the book.!!! Thanks goodness the sun is shining - i wonder if the chooks would like cake????

chickencam
It's so disappointing when things like that dob't work out. I never seem to have the right ingredients for what i want to make. Hope it came out of the oven edible.
FruitandNutCake
My first attempt at lemon cake I knocked over the freshly squeezed lemon juice and I didn't put the butter in. I put it in the oven, thinking "oooh an nice healthy cake that doesn't have fat in!" Then I re-read the recipe - and realised I'd missed out oil! It didn't come out very good at all - tasted lovely and lemony but extremely dense the cake and me!
LJ's Chooks
actually the bits that fell down the side are yummy... its kind of a lemon drizzle cake with out the lemon rind, but with the juice of a lemon and some coconut... it's a bit burnt cos i forgot i'd turned the oven up a bit to try and set the lava flow, but I think it might be ok. Burnt myself ironing too... Still if a girl is hormonal there is no escape. Let's write today off and go to the gym tomorrow!!!!
