Advice on graters please

Recommended Posts

Has anybody got or used micro plane graters?

I have a very sorry excuse for a grater and no food processor. I'm trying not to add to my collection of gadgets that stay in the cupboard  I've been looking at microplane graters for ages. They seem quite expensive and I find the different ranges confusing. Any advice please?

When I bought my medium grade one there was pretty much only the microplane brand around so I stumpted up the £18 then about 6 months later my hubby found a fine grade one in a charity shop unopened for £2

I use mine for parmesan and it is great for grating the zest of citrus fruit, you get alovely fine result and it doesn't all get stuch round the grater like one the fine grating side of a standard grater.

I think that there are cheaper versios out there now, so well worth a look, I wouldn't be without mine.

A friend has one and I've used her medium plane one and loved it. Although I was wary to spend that much on a grater, when mine gives up the ghost I'll be buying one as it makes life so much easier, especially if you find grating hard work.
