Well ALL ten piled into the green eglu tonight!!! 0 in the purple!!! They only use the purple eglu to lay eggs in!!!

 

 

The rest are tucked up underneath. All very cosy!!

I'm afraid I turfed Dasiy out of the nest box tonight and put a football in her place. She still found room to roost. Silly hens don't they know there's an empty purple eglu nearby?

Tonight I have one RIR in the eglu, one ex-batt in a cube and the other thirteen are all in one cube.

My 5 "big girls" are the same. All of them sleep in one eglu even though I had a purple one empty to begin with. Your 10 beats mine for sure.

 

I'll be interested to see what happens when I integrate the two Araucanas though. Will all 7 try and share one eglu?

Looks like the cube can't come soon enough!! Or perhaps they don't find purple a restful colour!!

I'm getting 2 new hens next year, I was planning to buy another Eglu, makes me think it's not worth it as all these posts suggest they'll all snuggle in together!

 

But I was going to get the new one for the intros and also 'cos they'd need more than one nest box.

 

Suppose I can always sell it afterwards!!
