Electricbarbarella
grrr, i am on the verge of falling out with stripey (who is my favourite) I wanted to give the run a really good clean out and everytime i went to touch the floor the bloomin chook pecked my finger. Luckily I had my marigilds on, I have given up now.

Hen Watch
My lot pecked everything that moved for the first month. Toenails, shoe stitching, my fingers when I opened up the run..... etc. Then they settled in a realised what was food and what wasn't. I never get pecked at all now (except when I'm wearing my skirt with the little brown beads sewn on it and then Henrietta develops a taste for beads). (But on a serious note, I do make sure I never let my kids crouch down at eye level with the chooks, just in case they take a fancy to any moles on their face). Egluntyne
Were you wearing a sparkly ring? They go for anything shiny.
Abbey Road Girl
I've had a sleeve button or two pecked at, but mostly the hens tend not to see me or my clothes as edible. Some of them are more considerate at pecking food from my hand than others. Three of my four are quite careful--and then there's Toffee! The Brown Clan
Were you wearing a sparkly ring? They go for anything shiny. Yes I know don't wear my rings now when out with my girls, was worried about loosing a diamond ( did not fancy pooh examinatoion close up )

Mutrix Farmers
Mine peck my skirt or trousers if they have a pattern on. I did think twice about putting my face too near as I wear glasses and didn't really want them to peck at their reflections. Glad you've made friends again Electric
josephine77
Well, Mine pecked at my eye yesterday, and luckily just got the eye lashes! Won't be falling for that one again, serves me right for laying on the lawn (which they now own). J xxx
mrsallen08
My older chooks are not pecking me now but the younger chicks have started to! We built them a new level to their run (made from a length of kitchen worktop!) which has now become their breakfst bar! The trouble is now when I feed them their corn on there my fingers are a lot easier to reach. It is something they grow out of but it does make you swear when you least expect it! dancing cloud
So, time to confess then that Daisy pecked my left eyelid a couple of days ago? She's always been interested in why my face is different from hers, so when I was sat on the ground with them, she decided to explore - and , of course, a hen's eyes are behind its beak . I know she meant me no harm and that she loves me dearly, but it could have been quite a nasty accident if she'd hit the eye itself. Needless to say, I got no sympathy whatsoever from my so-called colleagues at work, when I had to explain the black eye was due to a nosey chicken Seriously though, I won't be letting her get within range again. chickenanne
One of mine LOVES pecking the back of trousers. Never the front, only the back when you're walking away form her.
MedusA
One of my girls, Treacle, has a real fascination with my yellow marigolds too. Whenever I clean them out, she is hovering to have a go at the lovely juicy big yellow worms! Still, at least she doesn't constantly try to drink the dirty, soapy water that I'm using to clean the eglus, which is Toffee's favourite tipple. cathychic
One of my girls is extremely friendly and actually comes up to me for a cuddle. But a warning - the other day she was so close to me she actually pecked my eyeball! No damage done, just a scratch, but my eye was sore and watered a lot for a day or so. Luckily she had been beak trimmed when she was fairly young so her beak not too sharp. I have seen them pecking each other round the eyes (I think cleaning each other) and so I suspect she thought she was doing me a favour!
