craftyhunnypie
...The electric jam pan / maker in Lakeland? I rather liked the look of it, but hubby said it wasn't very WI or traditional. I think us Omleteers might like it though - watch this space! Emma.x
hillfamily
I saw this - my lakeland catalogue was delivered at the weekend It looks good, especially for those who aren't seasoned jam makers.............. but I'm still an old fashioned jam maker at heart (too many childhood Sunday afternoons making jam and homemade bread with my Dad :D ) so will be sticking with my jam saucepan and thermometer lots of other lovely things in the catalogue

Krysia
I haven't made any jam this year Hubby has done it all and I hate to say it but it has set better than mine BUT We have only just got a thermometer so I always guessed and he was checking it every 5mins, Anyway in the space of 3 days we got 9 jars of Redcurrant jelly 7 jars of Blackcurrant Jam 3 jars of gooseberry and rhubarb jam. total cost the sugar and a bit of gas, The Fruit was all from the garden! Mrs Frugal
I love making jam and would feel a bit lost if I couldn't stand over a bubbling pan of sticky jam . I'm too traditional, I think . Great idea though - if I hadn't been given a lovely Maslin pan for Christmas last year .
Helly Welly
I'm getting one for my birthday, i think it looks fab. Can't find it anywhere other than Lakeland, which is a bit annoying as i bet Amazon would do it cheaper.
Guest
ooooh pricey. I'm NOT a traditionalist though, made my first Jam earlier this month and my breadmaker does the job well enough for 2nd place for each jam I made!!
gracefruit
Ooher. I'd have one of those. I've never made jam before. Would I be right in guessing that you'd still have to go through the 'boiling bath' for sealing up the jars?
Krysia
We just pop them in the oven and pour the hot jam into hto glass jars and seal 30mins to an hr later you hear the POP as the lids seal.
Guest
I sterilised my jars in the microwave. Mind you it was whilst doing that that the microwave caught light. Have a very SHINEY new one now! (damned shiney door - the cleaner keeps wiping it over - it needs to be dried off too otherwise its all smeary!)

If you use glass cleaner on stainless then it does not smear
