thats a cake and a mess!!

 

My YS spent today baking his Grandma's birthday cake. I left him to it whilst I was ironing.... think I'll stay with him next time.

 

Actually he's just like his Dad in the kitchen - has to use as many bowls, saucepans etc. as possible.

 

 

 

There was a photo of the sink as well which looks like murder has taken place - a bit too much red colouring me thinks - but it came out too big and it wouldn't change size

 

Kept him busy for a bit though which is always good. He's now sitting in the chicken run in the rain with the chickens.

 

Edit that to say that its stopped raining again....

I'm just about to wash the kitchen floor, my fitflops are sticking to the floor....

 

He did try to wash the floor earlier (he's reading this as I type) and he does make a cracking victoria sponge, lovely and light.

Works the other way round in our house. I do nearly all the cooking. OH does the occasional bit of baking and suddenly the whole house has flour footprints and the kitchen looks like the proverbial bombsite!!

 

I might have to start trying this cake baking lark though as we got our first egg today! Lovely surprise to get a very excited call at work from DS1

I bet granny is well pleased & I'd be proud of the fact your son can cook. He'll make a good hubby one day!

I'm trying very hard to train him to be a good future husband!! My hubby came to me being able to cook better than me. YS quite likes cleaning things as well (although I remember my older kids used to enjoy doing that but it seems to wear out)

 

Baking with your own eggs is wonderfull, the cakes taste so much better.

Thank you. It was delicious - MIL had two slices last night, took another home with her. SIL came over and complimented YS on his lovely light cake. Needless to say there is none left today

I'd be careful if I were you, looks like you might have some orders from fellow Omleteers coming your way......... wonder if that lovely cake would travel well - delivery service maybe?

I keep asking YS if he fancies being a chef (thinking that I wouldn't mind him practising at home) but unfortunately he wants to be a policeman....
