sparkysmum
A couple of weeks ago I rather tearfully reported how my dog caught one of our ex batt girls and broke her foot. Well the last two weeks have been sooo difficult. Our vet prescribed metacam which we have given to her in her feed but - throughout all of the last two weeks Penny has been unable to walk. She has only managed a bit of a hop. However everyday we lifted her from her eglu to their enclosure and back again at the end of the day. Every day I wondered where this was going and wondered more than once if it would be kinder to "let her go" However she continued to be interested in her feed which we put literally under her nose and so we continued............Well today we were rewarded - Penny walked She is clearly still in pain and it was more of a hobble , but it's progress She is such a pet. Hoping for a happy ending. If anyone has any "broken foot stories" we would love to hear of you experience esp. if there is a happy ending. Egluntyne
Good news. Why not give her some extra calcium ( Limestone flour) to help the break heal a bit quicker.

Clur
Great news! I know someone who had to have their hen's foot amputated after a fox attack - she happily hops about with the others, no problem. Glad Penny's on the mend!!!
sparkysmum
Hi folks, Thanks for all your kind replies. Egluntine thanks for your suggestion re limestone flour, I will try to track some down today. It really does bring a tear to your eye when you see her efforts - yesterday she managed to get out of the eglu herself. Progress indeed Clur, thanks for your message - it's good to know that if need be surgery is possible, but hoping it won't beBest wishes, Allison & Co
