Watch out for Vista Print

Recommended Posts

I have received this e-mail and I thought it would be useful to post it here, because I've been tempted to use them in the past (these are the people that offer you business cards/address stickers for free or a small price).

'If any of you have got products from vista print and used credit or debit cards check your accounts. They are running a scam where they start taking £9.95 per month out of your account without telling you. When challenged they claim it is a membership fee.

I have just rung up and been told I will get a refund and the membership stopped. At this point I don't know if that will happen. Credit card companies can't stop it, the company is based in Bermuda by the way! You may have to cancel your card and start again!'

I hope none of you guys got hooked into this.

I very nearly fell for this... it is a link they give to claim your reward or special offer for having ordered from them and is very very cleverly worded...

i did actually click on it - and it was quite complicated to cancel...

a good warning Ana..

oooh, thanks for the warning! If there is even a tiny gap in security - someone will find a way to scam - frightening really. Happened to me recently where my card was cloned, at a petrol station of a places. A camera had been placed recording people typing in their pin numbers and one member of staff's family had been threatened. Luckily my bank was on the ball and it was stopped before it began. Narrow escape for me.

I hope it works out for you and thanks for the tip off.

with Vista Print it's not a gap in security - it is not fraudulent - it is just very cleverly worded to make you think you are clicking on a link to one thing - when actually you are signing up for something else...

I did get caught up in this about a year ago. We ordered some ink stamps for work and three months later I noticed £9.95 being taken from my current account - in one month they managed to take two payments

There was an 0845 tele number on my bank statement as a reference which I called (took forever to get through). When I did speak to some-one they said I had signed to join their savings club which gave me access to discounted goods on line - I had never signed up for this nor had I received details of this so called savings club. She then gave me the email address I was supposed to have given them which was something like amo185@hotmail which was not even my email address :evil:

After a lively debate about scams and con artists, my first mention of trading standards was responded to with an automatic' We will refund your account now Mrs Ortu' :? Which they did.

I have since kept clear of any offer with Vistaprint mentioned.

Its a well known "membership" scheme unfortunately. You just have be be very careful not to sign up when you order.

Of course Vista Print are excellent, use them all the time for rubber stamps and am always very careful not to get myself signed up for this!

We got caught with this but luckily noticed it on the statement straight away and hubbie had sharp words with them. Everything was refunded.

I would definately use them in the future though, as the business Christmas cards we recieved were excellent quality and looked very expensive.

Another thing to watch out for though is that you don't sign up for free envelopes, as you end up paying a ridiculous postage charge for them.

We bought enough christmas cards last year to last this year as well, but I think we will be using them next year again. Do it in plenty of time though so you can go for the cheaper postage options.
