redhotchick
It's not like I have a huge garden, I don't garden every weekend, and I haven't got a huge variety of crops, but....just by growing some lettuce, courgettes, onions, garlic, shallots, broad beans, french beans and a few potatoes I have been able to cut down on my trips to the supermarket so much over the past few months. I actually like going to the supermarket, but always end up spending too much! My sister very much dislikes going to the supermarket. I am working on getting her to grow some vegetables too. The phone conversation the other night went something like this Her "I've just been to Tescos for something for dinner" Me "I've just nipped out to the garden for something for dinner" Hee hee It helps that I have eggs from my chickens too! I'm not sure what I can grow to see me over the winter. Things are starting to run out! .....gone to look at another thread...
TAJ
These days we only use a supermarket to get toilet rolls cat food and cleaning materials - less than once a month. We grow a lot of fruit & veg on an allotment (and freeze surplus for the winter), eggs from the garden and use a local butchers, veg shop (local produce) and a little organic shop that does lovely local milk & butter. OH thinks we save money as he doesn't see all the 'goddies' he would be tempted to buy in a supermarket. Tracy
little chickadee
We've not been buying veg very much recently either. I love having an allorment - must be more organised with it next year though

I love having an allorment - must be more organised with it next year though I'm just learning to grow veg, this is my third year, every year I get a bit better. Another 20 years I might be ok at it!
