Janty
Went to Merrydale Poultry with Mum-in-law today to collect some more hens. She chose 5 girls who will eventually live with Lynn's girls in M-i-l's back garden. I made hubby happy by getting two Merrydale copper blacks (Ginger, who we lost recently was a copper black). However, I also got a Merrydale Sweetie and a Merrydale cuckoo. We have been sitting out in the garden tonight with the neighbours trying to decide what to call them and we have decided on 80's pop stars. The big feisty Copper black we have called Shaka Khan and the ginger headed copper black is called Sonia (see the Liverpudlian theme here as well!). Other names that were mentioned were Pepsi and Shirley, Mel and Kim, Salt and Pepper, Madonna, Hazel O'Connor and Annie Lennox. Haven't decided on anything that really suits the other two yet. Any suggestions based around this theme would be appreciated? By the way, the neighbours and hubby were all placing bets as to how many I would come back with. I brought M-i-l's hens back to our house at first so that I could clip their wings, etc. and was about to wind the neighbours up and tell them that they were all mine but they were out. Serves me right for being rotten!
Janty
Just heard next door walking past calling Shaks Khan, Shaka Khan, Shaka Khan. Maybe you have to be a certain age to appreciate that one. It made us giggle.

chelsea
Madonna is quite a cheap and easy one to dress up as, I did it one year for xmas karaoke (and I won! ) Blonde wig with black lace bow tied in it, bright pink t shirt (could also have electric blue), black leggings with black mini skirt over the top, lots of bangles, studded punk style cuff bracelet, giant crucifix and lots of beads. Oh, and dont forget the blacked out front tooth and lots of dark eyeliner. 80's - all about bright colours, legwarmers, "relax" t shirts, batwing jumpers and ra ra skirts. Fab, I love the eighties, have a "lush" time !! Edited August 18, 2008 by Guest
chelsea
oh, and just to add - my mum was Cyndi lauper at the same karaoke party and she just hired a "pantomime dame's" outfit from the fancy dress shop and changed the wig and wore a coloured one with stripey tights, easy.
