Donna_0
Just so excited I had to put a post on here.. After having our two bluebelles Barbara and Margot for around four weeks, I am finally getting over my fear of them! Barbara was the first to lay, and has become my favourite (ssshh don't tell Margot!) My hubby picks her up and she closes her eyes when we stroke her. I sat and talked to her for about ten minutes the other evening whilst she was stood on the decking, put my hand out and started stroking her. I thought it was a fluke that she let me do it, so tried it again later on and it happened again! It seems Babara is becoming tame!! Now to work on Margot who won't have you within three feet of her! Sorry if this sounds silly, but I really was frightened of them when we first got them, and likened them to baby dinosaurs I now actually think they are pretty I am so pleased..*woop woop* -Barbara 28/07/08 -Margot 04/08/
Egluntyne
Margot will become tamer when she starts laying too.
Sandychick
Good news - you can really enjoy them now
piptiddlepip
Margot will become tamer when she starts laying too. Now that is handy to know, because Esme (Chicken of Evil) will let me stroke her, but the others run off clucking if I get too close. None of them apart from Esme lay yet. She lays an egg every other day on average at the moment.
Donna_0
Both are layingg, but BArbara was the first, and also she is 'top hen'. I tried stroking them both late the other night through the pop hole, and Margot still has none of it..she's really nevous! I will be patient and more understanding with her and hopefully she will come round. I bought my first copy of practical poultry magazine from WH Smiths today (feel very old as I'm not buying Heat etc!) hopefully that has lots of useful tips too! -Barbara 28/07/08 -Margot 04/08/
ruth1
Thats funny because my Esme ( ruler of all) is now really easy to touch since she started laying, gytha and Ella who came on the same day tolerate a stroke and their not laying yet, but the others run a mile so i guess im waiting for them all to start laying. Gytha and Esme are bosom buddies
