dogs and chickens
Following on from hubby being made redundant we are trying to reduce our bills as much as possible for obviously reasons. I had never really taken stock before of how much our broadband/call costs/line rental are , I do our finances and have just listed them on the spreadsheet and I guess just thought of them as direct debits that need paying . Now however they seem like a fortune ! I was wondering if anyone can recomend a provider that will provide broadband, line rental and free anytime UK landline calls (would ask for free mobile calls as well but not sure that would be possible !). I won't to move everything to be with the same provider as I think that will be the cheapest. I have looked on uswitch.com and have come up with Tiscali £14.99/mth for first three months, followed by £19.99/mth there after for a 12 month contract, this includes all the things I'm after. Except I have phoned them and our phone line will not be included as free as we are in the 'wrong' area! For us the cost will be £23.23/mth - 1st 3 mths, then £28.23 there after. We use tiscali for our broadband currently with no problems, but not for phone does anyone know if they are any good? Currently we are with BT for line rental (aprox £42/quarter), talk talk for calls £25-£40/month, and tiscali for broadband £14.99/month. Anyone know a good (cheaper) solution? Many Thanks
redfrock
hello! I also have all our costs on a spread sheet. We changed from BT for our phone as soon as we could sever our contract with them. We are with Tiscali for internet and decided to go to them for our phone as well. We also do not qualify for free line rental but you do save 25% on the cost of your line rental by having phone and broadband with them and they upgrade your bandwidth. We have certainly been very pleased. My phone bills are much cheaper than with BT and we are rarely over the basic charge as I use my free minutes on the mobile to ring other mobiles, and I try to avoid the 0845 numbers etc. All your local and national landline calls are free. We pay an extra £1 (in total) to have answer phone and caller display (mainly because I have a problem family member). My parents have been with them for about the last 3 years and have had no problems either. HTH!
the hopefulls
Hi We have Talk Talk for broadband and land line and we only pay approx £17 a month and you and get an extra £1 - £2 off a month for online billing. Also you can set up caller groups to get 10% off about 10 landline numbers and 10% off some mobile numbers etc etc, i think evening landline calls are free and Talk Talk to other Talk Talk customers is free, and (not that we use it) you get discounts on international calls. Guest
use www.saynoto0870.com to convert 0845 and 0870 numbers into geographical numbers, then you can dial them for free.
Cooks
I'm with Virgin Media, I find them really helpfull, much better than when NTL owned the company anyway. I have broadband, telephone and free anytime calls I forget how much but it's not more than £40 a month for all those. And they will give you 30 free tv channels if you ask , they come and install them I think on the hope you'll want the bigger packages they have to offer, but if you only stick to those that would be a cool freebie. dogs and chickens
That's really helpful thank you, like the bit about changing 0870 numbers - brilliant! Very useful to have some possitive thoughts on Tiscali, and I will have a look at virgin and talk talk as well, will be good to compare all recommended companies.
