tiggerlady
Having read all about the jam making that goes on im now inspired to have a go! The breadmaker does jam but takes too long IMO, but I was wondering if theres a quick way to sterilize the jam jars? Do you guys use something like milton or pop them in the microwave? If so, how long for etc? Also can you use a bogstandard stainless steel saucepan to try it out before splashing out on a jam pan? Thanks..in anticipation of yummy jam to come!! Couperwife
I just use a normal sauce pan for making jam Or I have a large pasta pot type thing that I use if I have a lot of stuff as for sterlising - i either put them in the oven for 10 minutes or run them through the dishwasher and use them when they first come out. hope this is helpful cathy x
Egluntyne
I just washed mine thoroughly and then put them in the oven for 10 mins too.
Lesley
I rinse mine in cold water and dry them in a fairly hot oven for 10/15 mins as well. I pour boiling water over the lids and tip them onto kitchen paper to drain. You can use any heavy based saucepan as long as it is deep enough to contain the boiling jam when it boils up to double it's height.
